Forging a new way to bridge the gap between Celtic, rock and pop music with a relevant and fresh twist, it’s The Celtic Social Club!

Five years after their inception, The Celtic Social Club are still thriving upon their traditional heritage, but also widening their influences to the richness of other genres and cultures. The band have been pursuing a fascinating journey in the modernization of traditional tunes from Brittany, Ireland, Scotland and Asturia, to name a few. On their third LP, the band have never sounded so tight and powerful with great reviews on both sides of the channel.

Recorded and produced in France, then mixed in the US by Manu Masko and New-Yorker Ariel Borujow (Black Eyed Peas, Cee Lo), their ten new tracks demonstrate the idiosyncratic synergy between tradition, songwriting and live energy. Traditional yet progressive, original yet fast becoming a new sensation at venues throughout the world. The Celtic Social Club are a vital link between the past and the future of music. The Great Malarkey

A riotous mix of musical styles and genres, bringing perfect musical chaos to the Freshly Squeezed Tent on Saturday night, it’s The Great Malarkey!

Influenced by the likes of Tom Waits, Pixies, The Pogues, Beirut and Toots and the Maytals (the latter of whom they supported with only their third gig), the band deliver raucous and explosive, “balls to the wall”, high energy live shows. Grab a pint and some space to dance and flail your body around because The Great Malarkey never disappoints! They bring their whole heart to every song, every show, every album and anyone who wants to listen.

Old Time Sailors

Sailing in as Headliners of the Freshly Squeezed Tent on Sunday, it’s the Old Time Sailors!

We once more welcome a hearty crew of 30 singing sailors ready to welcome you aboard! Grab your shipmates, grab a pint and head over to sing along. Each member of HMS Calling gets a copy of the Sunday Sailor programme, with all the lyrics to the songs, so there’s no excuse to not join in! Land ahoy!

Bowen

We’re excited to introduce Bowen to the lineup!

Bowen is a new wave rock act from London. Fronted by South London singer- songwriter Neve Bowen, taking her sad girl sound and turbocharging it into a New Wave band. With a shared love of bands from the late 70s (that they should be too young to have ever heard of!) the band came together to create their sound, blending influences from the likes of The Smiths, Blondie and The Pretenders with acts like Wolf Alice and Paramore.

Paradise Circus

Joining Freshly Squeezed is an emerging band set to make waves in the industry…welcome, Paradise Circus!  

Hailing from Birmingham, the electrifying 4 piece combine their penchant for intricate lyricism and captivating melodies with a touch of 2000’s nostalgia. This is evident in their latest single ‘Sunrise’, that leans into the idea of keeping hope despite the immense pressure of life. The heartwarming anthem is one of the band's most personal tracks to date, with a chorus you can imagine being chanted along to at a festival on a blistering Summer’s day (so you best get learning it for Calling!)

A collaboration of renowned industry professionals are responsible for the incredible level of production achieved, consisting of recording engineer Chris D’adda (The 1975, Kodaline), mixing engineer Andrea Cozzaglio (Anne Marie, Wet Leg, Inhaler) and mastering engineer Andy Baldwin (Oasis). The attention to detail in creating such a warmth and richness of sound is worthy of accolade and attention.

Paradise Circus roar into 2024 with an unrelenting intensity, following a phenomenal end to 2023. The band aims to not only keep this trajectory going but to be bigger, bolder and more ambitious than ever before. It is easy to see why the band have been coveted by the likes of NME, CLASH, and BBC Introducing and have been made ‘Artist of the Week’ on numerous occasions. We’re excited to welcome rising star, Sophie Griffiths, to the Freshly Squeezed lineup!

Sophie Griffiths is a singer-songwriter from Essex. Taking inspiration from iconic figures like Duffy, Amy Winehouse, and Norah Jones, Sophie’s work is a fusion of her spirited old soul with a contemporary twist. Her music presents a distinctive turn of phrase, whilst showcasing her flair for crafting ear-catching melodies. Her musical style resonates with the likes of Cat Burns and Caity Baser, establishing Sophie as a force to be reckoned with among her peers.

The past year has been a whirlwind for Sophie Griffiths, marked by significant milestones that have catapulted her into the spotlight. Introducing the beautiful sound of Butterfly Moon to Freshly Squeezed.

Butterfly Moon radiate passion and energy in their acoustic sets with soulful, harmonised vocals and intricate guitar playing. This last year has seen them busk around Europe for two months, create magic at fireside spots and bring some unforgettable experiences to festivals.

Ash Edwards and Gareth Price-Baghurst lead a life of adventure, travel and narrow-boating which infuses into their sound, with their music and lyrics inspired by nature, humanity and connection. The chemistry between them creates a captivating and fun atmosphere which extends to all who are watching. Craig Gould & The Noble Thieves

We are excited to welcome Craig Gould & The Noble Thieves to the Freshly Squeezed Stage!

With his ‘Beautiful music & masterful musicianship’ (Americana UK) and ‘Intimate, mellifluous country sounds’ (RnR Magazine), Craig Gould’s celebrated talent has received comparisons with songwriting royalty such as Cat Stevens, Leonard Cohen, Bob Dylan & Fleetwood Mac.

Craig’s debut album ‘Songs from the Campfire’ released to critical acclaim achieving top 20 positioning in the UK’s Official Americana (#19), Folk (#16) and Indie Breakers (#20) album charts; Further reinforcing his growing reputation as one of the hottest new artists on the Independent music scene. The record, listed amongst the ‘Best Albums of 2023’ by respected music publications At The Barrier, Music News Monthly & BluesBlues, documents Gould’s journey through severe mental illness; A path that saw him donate the records profits in partnership with the mental health charity CALM.

Ben Catley

We’re welcoming him back to Camper Calling, it’s Ben Catley!

With mesmerising guitar playing and an ecstatic stage presence, Western Australia’s Ben Catley pours every ounce of his soul into his live show. Having toured across Australia, New Zealand and the UK many times over, he captivates audiences like few other solo artists.

Along with releasing tracks featuring the legendary Wim Hof, and recently supporting USA

blues icon Walter Trout, Ben is also often found performing shows with Si Mullumby (Wild

Marmalade), who is widely regarded as one of the world’s best didgeridoo players!

Recently playing Australia’s famous Bluesfest (The Doobie Brothers, John Butler), and with regular music releases, Ben’s creative style of guitar-focussed blues/roots/rock continues to evolve. While mostly known for his high energy acoustic style, Ben has recently been releasing collections of chilled, finger-style guitar instrumentals ‘Cloudcabins’, that he has now weaved into his live set, creating a diverse show of guitar craftsmanship.

We’re excited to welcome emerging band Emerson to Freshly Squeezed!

Emerson are a four piece indie rock band hailing from Hampshire, England. The culmination of three vocal harmonies, heaven sent melodic guitars and nervy, ambitious lyrics results in their refreshing sound. Drawing from a range of diverse influences, they create a captivating live show and we’re thrilled that they’re joining us, bringing a setlist of your favourite indie hits to the stage! Get ready to ROCK Freshly Squeezed! Ruben Seabright hails from Worcester, bringing acoustic riffs and big vocals. He specialises in renditions of rock, grunge, punk and metal so expect to hear stripped down versions of Black Sabbath, Nirvana, Led Zeppelin, Biffy Clyro and his original tunes! Make sure to catch him on Saturday afternoon!

Dolly Mavies

Dolly captivates with her genre-defying fusion of Alternative Indie and Folk Rock, igniting listeners with sparks of the vivacity of her live performances and uniting audiences in a profound exploration of life’s highs and lows. Mavies’ music transcends both eras and genres, evoking the spirit of classic rock with a contemporary twist. Drawing parallels to luminaries like Joni Mitchell, Florence + The Machine, Daughter, and Fleetwood Mac, her tracks resonate with integrity and substance, leaving a lasting impact. Revivalry

Introducing Cleethorpes latest teenage band to Freshly Squeezed, Revivalry!

Having supported Reverend & The Makers and Corella, alongside playing gigs and festivals including Kendal Calling, Tramlines Fringe and Humber Street Sesh, the band’s Indie Rock style is gaining critical acclaim and an ever growing fan base. They cite Nirvana, Arctic Monkeys, Supergrass and The Reytons among their influences.

The boys have been described by The Sherlocks as a ‘Proper Band’, The Reytons noted the band are ‘going to make some big waves’ and Reyt Good Magazine stated they’re ‘a notable upcoming name in rock'n'roll’. Having just signed to Manchester record label Cosmic Glue, they’re clearly going places. Catch them on Saturday afternoon!

Andy Richards Band

Introducing Andy Richards Band to the Freshly Squeezed lineup!

Midlands-based Andy Richards Band are a captivating live act making their Camper Calling debut. Driven by Richards' finger-picked, rhythmical guitar style and rich vocal tones, his melodic open-hearted songs are original but timeless, taking cues from western folk-pop legends. Together the trio entwine acoustic and electric elements with percussive rhythm that sways and captivates.

On the move, they released a new EP ‘Night That Has No End’ in February 2024, an enticement of earworms that draws from local folk stories, social observation and sentimental retrospection welcome on any playlist. A perfect way to start your day, don’t miss the band opening Freshly Squeezed, Saturday!

The Coast

Emerging band The Coast join the Freshly Squeezed lineup! 

The Coast are a young, 4 piece, rock ‘n’ roll band from Cumbria who bring high octane sets of original songs of their own as well as covers from the past days of great music. Band members Ben Walker, Dan Hall, Alfie Bridgens and Joe Linton all share the same sentiment of bringing that great music back but with their own spin on things. Introducing Lissy Taylor to Camper Calling and Freshly Squeezed!

Lissy is the Northern powerhouse tipped to inspire the next generation of Indie Rock. The 23 year old artist from Stoke has kicked off 2024 supporting Circa Waves and Haiku Hands, after a successful 2023 supporting The View, Sea Girls and The Lottery Winners as well as New Rules, Tommy LeFroy, Rianne Downey, Rosellas, The Kairos, The Bluetones, and Tom Hingley. Following her 2nd UK Tour and release of her 2023 singles, she grabbed the attention of media and the music industry with plays on Radio 1 Future Alternative, 6 editorial Spotify playlists and BBC Radio 2 to name but a few. Lissy has a string of new songs and live dates planned for this year and we’re thrilled to be welcoming her to Camper Calling. Catch her on Friday afternoon at Freshly Squeezed!

Introducing Scratchy Beard to Freshly Squeezed! An upbeat, sincere & delectable collage of trans-European roots music. Full of intoxicating swing, heartfelt rhythms and flowing melodies, they have the storytelling spirit of Anglo-Celtic folk and the sophisticated charm of a Parisian street cafe on a summer’s afternoon.

Expect upbeat guitar, dixie-esque clarinet, stomping drums, souring violin, tin whistle, 3-part harmonies, jazz maracas and more on Friday afternoon!

Emma Taylor & The Wallflowers

Welcoming Emma Taylor and the Wallflowers to the lineup!

As played on BBC Radio Lancashire, BBC Introducing and Amazing Radio, Emma Taylor and the Wallflowers released their debut single ‘Fade’ last year, and this is just the beginning.

Residing in Manchester, they are a band of interchanging featured musicians, collaborating with singer-songwriter and frontwoman, Emma Taylor. Drawing upon influences of poetic lyricism from singer-songwriters Matilda Mann, Phoebe Bridges and Holly Humberstone, the band present this voice into a Fleetwood Mac inspired sound, captivating audiences with their storytelling and addictive melodies. Since forming, the band have taken legendary Manchester venues such as the main stage of Band on the Wall and Night & Day Cafe.
