Friday Theme

Fancy Dress

We will be a sea of SUNSHINE on Friday when we’re all in yellow!

Whether you’re dressed as a Simpson or you’re a soul full of radiant energy, there will be yellow, brightness and happiness wherever you go. Your finest yellow garments are required on Friday, and hopefully the sky will reflect the crowd! Sun, sun, sun, here it comes…

Saturday Theme

Fancy Dress

Saturday is competition day and the theme is Mardi Gras! We will create our very own Rio Carnival in the Carnival field where, in the Chaos Corner tent at 5pm, outfits will be judged and prizes will be given! Show us your best interpretation of the theme!

The main event, however, will be our Mardi Gras parade. After the competition, the BoomDang drummers will lead us through Carnival field and the festival grounds for all to see and join in! Beads and feathers galore, parrots and rhinestone masks, purple, yellow, green and glitter wherever you look. Saturday at Camper Calling will have never looked so fabulous!

TIGHT, BRIGHT NEON LIGHTS

Hello Friday night RAVERS! Your Friday theme is ‘Tight, Bright Neon Lights’. Think 90s rave with 80s fashion. The bigger, the bolder, the better. Night will fall, the DJs will take charge and your UV paint will illuminate the dance floor. Glow sticks at the ready, kiddos.

As the Ministry of Sound would say, Jungle. Is. Massive! Are you an explorer lost in the wilderness? Your favourite wild animal? Or a tropical palm looking absolutely fabulous in the sunshine? Fun for all the family. We can’t wait to see all you cool cats ‘n’ kittens in your Jungle attire!

No stranger to the festival scene, Lauran Hibberd has graced the stage at Bestival, Blue Dot, Isle of Wight, supported the likes of Clean Cut Kid and has recently sold out her first headline show. The genre-defying singer, songwriter and producer FullMarx is a modern viral sensation. After paying his dues in the pubs and clubs of the country, Fullmarx had major exposure with a viral hit and was personally invited by Lucy Spraggan to join her on tour.
Clever, cheeky lyrics are sure to spin in your head all weekend long.

Tom first picked up a guitar late in his teens where a few modest attempts at bedroom songwriting, evolved into something he hadn’t set out to do. He’s turned a fair few heads since then, sharing the stage with Old Sea Brigade, Billie Marten and being picked out as a favourite by BBC Radio 2’s Jo Whiley. We know you’re going to love him!

Smooth Ends

Saturday, Music Act, Lakeside Stage

Smooth by name and smooth by nature, this band serves up fresh dreamy summer vibes. Their music draw influences from the band’s Latin roots, mixing with disco, synth pop and soulful melodies. The perfect summer mix.

Backbeat Soundsystem

Music Act, Saturday, Lakeside Stage

Backbeat Soundsystem are a different beast. In a UK reggae scene that has long eschewed bands in favour of sound systems, Backbeat brings 8 musicians to the stage and hail from far west Cornwall. And, while many of their peers are slavish in their attempt to recreate an authentic Jamaican-leaning sound, Backbeat Soundsystem are not afraid to go in totally different directions, pulling in influences from all across the music spectrum, to create their vision of modern reggae.

ABC

Music Act, Saturday, Lakeside Stage

A leading light of the New Wave scene of the early-’80s, ABC took the pop baton from the likes of David Bowie and Roxy Music and ran it up the UK top ten.

In 1982, ABC’s debut release, The Lexicon of Love spawned seminal synth-driven hits such as “The Look of Love”, “Poison Arrow”, and “Tears Are Not Enough”: Now founder Martin Fry has unleashed The Lexicon of Love II reaching number 5 in the UK album chart with singles “Viva Love” and “The Flames of Desire”.

With his ageless voice and ear for timeless hooks, Martin Fry will take you on a journey back to 1982 and everywhere in between at Camper Calling 2016.

This is the sound of an old master falling not far short of a standard that his youthful self set very high indeed.
